Mid Atlantic Athletic Club (MAAC) was formed in 1977
with an objective to offer its members all pursuits associated
with a road running athletic club with an empahasis on middle
and long distance events regardless of age or athletic ability.
The club organises 10 official road running events on the BTFA
running calendar and a series of 2 and 4 mile Fun Runs on Tuesday
evenings at 6 pm at the Botanical Gardens in Paget and a track
night training session in the winter months. All are welcome
to join club members at the Fun Run and track sessions - the
first visitor across the line can win a special award of an
historic map of Bermuda at the summer Fun Runs. The club also
organises informal Sunday morning group training runs for those
wishing to do the May 24 Bermuda half marathon and the New York
marathon. The club also co-ordinates an annual trip to the New
York marathon for Bermuda residents.
A monthly meeting of members takes place at 8 pm on the second
Wednesday of the month at the Police Recreation Club at Prospect,
Devonshire.
